Modern funeral order of service templates

What to include in a funeral order of service

Front page: the front cover of the booklets should feature a photograph of the deceased, along with their name and life dates. It is traditional to include the funeral service details on the cover page of the booklets, such as the location, date and time of the service.

Inner pages: The inside pages of the booklets should contact the running order of the funeral service, also known as the service programme. This should contain the following:

  • Entrance music
  • Welcoming words
  • Readings, poems or prayers that will be read
  • Any music, hymns or songs that will be played
  • The Committal or Blessing
  • Closing music

It is also traditional to include the name of the people carrying out the readings during the ceremony. You can also use the inner pages to include treasured memories by adding text entries and photographs, the order of service is not limited to 4 pages, you can include as many inner pages as you wish to.

Back page: The back cover page of the booklet is where you can expect to find a thank you message from the family of the bereaved to those in attendants. You may also wish to include details of the chosen charity for donations, alongside details of the wake following the service itself. We like to include a space on all of our template for you to add a photo on the back cover page, but this is optional and can be removed easily using our editor.

Remember: It is important to remember that each funeral order of service is unique to the funeral service for that individual, therefore we believe that there is no ‘right’ way to lay out the funeral order of service.

Excellent Company

"Excellent. I was under tremendous pressure to get finalised an order of service for my Mum’s funeral and Sam was nothing short of amazing in helping me deal with this. I’m a little challenged with technology but their software to create funeral stationary was intuitive and responsive. But when I needed help it was there. When I added at the last minute additional items which I really wanted to make my Mum’s funeral complete, but was worried I wouldn’t have enough time, nothing was too much trouble for Sam. Everything I wanted was sorted for me. Also, delivery was as promised and the quality top notch. I can’t praise this company, and Sam in particular, enough. Would definitely recommend ‘A Loving Tribute’ for your funeral stationery." Deborah S.
