Hello, my name is Sophie and I would like to welcome you to A Loving Tribute.

In today’s video I am going to be walking you through the creation of an Order of Service using our online editor.

Before we get started, I would recommend clicking on ‘log in’, which you can find at the top righthand corner of the screen, here you can create an account with us. This way any progress made can be easily saved as you go, which may save you some time later on. Simply complete the required fields and select ‘Register’, once your account is all set up, let’s head back to the homepage to get started.

Here you will find over 100 templates to choose from, providing you with plenty of choice. Remember, if you are looking for something a little different, or wish to make any changes to our existing designs, we offer a free bespoke design service where our studio team can create a design to meet your needs. Just visit our Bespoke design request page and complete the form. If using one of our existing templates, find the one you wish to use, click on it and let’s begin.

You will be greeted with a page that allows you to select the quantity which you require, but this is not important right now as you can update this at the end. At the bottom of this page you will find information on how our pricing system works, but again you do not need to worry about this, as pricing is all calculated within our system at the checkout. It is now time to start customising the template.

Right, let’s talk through the editor window. On the left-hand side you will find the photo gallery panel, where you can upload the photographs you wish to. I would recommend creating a folder on your desktop which hold the photos, this will make it easy to find them when uploading. Load the photos into the gallery and then simply drag and drop the photos into the designated image area. Double click on the image to bring up the image options. Here you can rescale the image, rotate and reposition the image by using the cursor to drag the image into frame. Once you are happy, close the image options window.

To begin editing the text, triple click on the section you wish to edit. Just like the images you have text options to allow you to change the font, size and alignment of the text as required. If at any point you need to go back, you can use the undo button at the top of the editor screen. Once you are ready to move on, you can use the arrows at the bottom of the screen to move to the next page.

We recommend creating a word document with all the text that you need, this way you can copy and paste into the editor. The usual right click functionality does not work on our software, therefore you will need to use the keyboard short cuts. On max this will be CMD C and V. On windows this will be control C and V. Alternatively, you can simple type the text straight into our editor.

It is always a good idea to make note of the font styling before you paste any test into the editor, as the font may be overridden by a default front format.

If at any point you feel you need more pages, you can add pages in increments of four on the right hand side of the screen.

While using our editor you can check in with your progress at any time by clicking preview. Simply click anywhere on the page to move on to the next and select the cross when you are done.

You will see in the editor that there are two outer lines on each page, one black and one red. These are our trim and bleed lines. Please do not worry about these lines, they are used by our printers and will not be printed on your booklets. All you need to do is ensure any text or photographs do not overlap these lines, any text or photographs that do overlap these lines will fall off the page and will not be printed.

You also have the option to download a pdf preview of your Order of Service design, which you may wish to share with family, friends or the funeral leader before the final design is sent to print. Please note a watermark of the word ‘PREVIEW’ will show on the preview file, rest assured this will not be printed on the final booklets.

If you wish to save your work at any time and come back to it later, you can click on save as project. Alternatively, if you are happy and feel you have finished creating the booklets, you can select add to basket.

At this stage you can select your quantity by using the arrows as shown, then select update shopping basket. This will calculate your order total and you are now ready to checkout.

I hope you have found this walkthrough helpful. Remember, if at any time you need help, or decide that you want our team to create the Order of Service for you, simply get in touch, where we will be more than happy to assist.

what to include in a funeral order of service

What to include in a funeral order of service

Front page: the front cover of the booklets should feature a photograph of the deceased, along with their name and life dates. It is traditional to include the funeral service details on the cover page of the booklets, such as the location, date and time of the service.

Inner pages: The inside pages of the booklets should contain the running order of the funeral service, also known as the service programme. This includes the following:

  • Entrance music
  • Welcoming words
  • Readings, poems or prayers (along with the names of those who are reading them)
  • Music, hymns or songs
  • The Committal or Blessing
  • Closing music

You can also use the inner pages to include treasured memories by adding text entries and photographs – creating a wonderful keepsake for those in attendance.

Back page: The back cover page of the booklet is where you will find a thank you message from the family alongside details of the chosen charity for donations. You will also find details of the wake, or such event that has been organised to follow the funeral service. You may find a space has been added to your chosen template to allow for an additional photograph on the back cover page, this is optional and can be removed easily using our editor.

Remember: It is important to remember that each funeral Order of Service is unique to the person it is in remembrance of - there is no right or wrong way.

Each of our templates have been designed to keep in with the traditional formatting of a funeral service, however our editor allows you to add as many images, add as much text and add as many pages as you required. We also can create fully bespoke funeral Order of Service designs to accommodate your needs, simply get in touch.

Funeral Order of Service Example
Let us create it for you

If I could give 6 stars I would.

I called ALT to produce an Order of Service for my father’s funeral.
It's an emotional time and I didn't feel confident enough to design it myself, so I called ALT at 5 minutes to closure time on a Friday night. I was pleasantly surprised to hear Sam's voice on the phone!! I explained the situation and Sam's calm demeanour was reassuring that they could design and deliver what our family needed. When I emailed my father’s picture, Sam without confirmation that they would get my business, enhanced and returned my picture. It looked amazing and I was so grateful. He then referred me to the lovely Anna who designed a proof so quickly and accommodated all my bespoke requests. Nothing was too big or small and she was so responsive. When the final PDF proof came I couldn't have been happier. The prints arrived quickly and securely and the quality of the finish the card/paper was exceptional to look at and to touch. A Loving Trubute were professional, attentive and a pleasure to do business with.
May you go from strength to strength. Truly. All the best" MP.
